I Felt Trapped in a Never-Ending Cycle of Pain and Despair
I was going to the bathroom 15 times a day, and my stomach would have unbearable sharp pains throughout the day—every single day. It didn’t matter what I ate—or if I didn’t eat at all. The pain never stopped.
After seeing a doctor, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s. I started with light medications that didn’t work and eventually moved to Humira. At the time, I was eating a Standard American Diet.
I’ve put out a lot of content on instagram sharing this story, which has taken lots of effort over the years. To see pictures of how I looked, and get some foreshadowing into how I healed, you can check out this reel I made (90 sec): https://www.instagram.com/grazlyco/reel/C0xLfKlNLaU/
When Nothing Worked, I Had to Find My Own Solution
For 2.5 years, I lived like this. Neither Humira nor Stelara made any difference in how I felt. Sure, my blood markers improved, but the symptoms didn’t budge. These medications were just masking the problem, not solving it. With nowhere else to turn, I began researching on my own.
That’s when I discovered Stan Efferding’s Vertical Diet and later the animal-based diet. I transitioned slowly, eventually becoming fully strict—no cheats, ever. With a severe autoimmune disease, I knew I couldn’t afford to cut corners.
Healing Takes Time, But It’s Worth the Effort
I don’t want to sugarcoat this: it took about three months before I noticed any real improvement. For those first months, I had to fight the doubt creeping into my mind every day. At six months, I finally began to feel consistently good—and felt courageous enough to stop taking Stelara.
The truth is, healing takes time. Years of dietary toxins and damage aren’t repaired overnight. It requires patience, persistence, and consistency.
The Daily Habits That Changed Everything
Here’s what I did:
- I ate grass-fed red meats, organs, ripe fruits, raw honey, single-sourced maple syrup, raw dairy, corn- and soy-free eggs, organic white rice, and organic potatoes—nothing else.
- I got sunlight every sunrise and sunset to improve my sleep.
- As my energy returned, I lifted weights and built muscle.
- I tanned for natural Vitamin D, drank filtered water instead of tap, and minimized blue light exposure.
Like I said, I’ve made lots of content around this topic taking dozens of hours. For 5 exact things I did with real pictures and videos, check out this other reel I made on instagram (90 sec): https://www.instagram.com/grazlyco/reel/Cz4NZweJGWl/

Like I said, lots of content.
Each of these steps mattered, but none of them would have worked without consistency.
How to Stay Consistent When It Feels Impossible
Consistency isn’t easy, especially when you’re dealing with chronic pain, frustration, or the fear that nothing will ever work. Here’s how I stayed consistent, even when it felt impossible:
1. Start Small and Build Momentum
I didn’t change everything overnight. I started by slowly transitioning to an animal-based diet, cutting out processed foods one step at a time. This made the process manageable and helped me build confidence.
2. Create Routines You Can Stick To
I built habits into my day that made staying consistent easier. For example:
- Eating nutrient-dense meals at the same times each day.
- Watching the sunrise and sunset became a non-negotiable ritual for better sleep.
- Incorporating daily movement, even if it was just a short walk at first.
3. Track Your Progress
I kept a simple journal to track symptoms, energy levels, and wins—no matter how small. Seeing even slight improvements kept me motivated to continue.
4. Focus on the “Why”
I reminded myself daily why I was doing this: to get my life back. Every time I felt tempted to cheat or give up, I thought about the pain I’d endured and the freedom I wanted to achieve.
5. Surround Yourself with Support
Even though my doctors couldn’t help me, I found inspiration and guidance from others who had followed a similar path. Learning from their experiences reminded me that healing was possible.
6. Be Patient with the Process
It took months before I felt consistently good—and longer to undo years of damage. Remind yourself that healing isn’t a race. It’s a journey, and every step forward matters.
Consistency Is the Key to Transformation
Over time, the daily effort paid off. My symptoms began to subside. I started having entire symptom-free, energy-filled days. That became my new normal.
Hundreds of studies now link ultra-processed foods to chronic conditions and higher risks of death. Even foods marketed as “healthy” are often filled with synthetic ingredients that sabotage our health. Transitioning to a nutrient-dense, toxin-free lifestyle isn’t a quick fix—it’s a commitment.
Start Today, Stay Consistent, and Transform Your Life
If you’re in a dark place right now, know this: your body is built to heal. But it needs you to show up every single day.
Make this your routine: weekly organs, no toxins, and a holistic approach to life. The body is capable of incredible things when you give it the time and consistency it needs.
Start today.
Keep going.
And one day, you’ll wake up and realize you’re living again, not just surviving.
